HAVE TO BE SCARY
Every week we tell our guests to please leave their wallets in their pockets.
And we mean it.
We’re not after your money.
God wants your heart.
Generosity doesn’t have to be scary when Christ is leading your life:
“Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves. Material wealth eventually rusts, decays, and loses its value.
Instead, stockpile heavenly treasures for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay, or lose their value.
For your heart will always pursue what you value as your treasure.”
(Jesus in Matthew 6:19-21)
TWO NEW RESOURCES
God owns everything
“For every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.”
God is generous
God poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.
We are BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
(2 Corinthians 9:11)
Bringing our first ten percent to God is not part of the Law; it’s part of who God has called us to be
And Melchizedek, the king of Salem and a priest of God Most High, brought Abram some bread and wine.
Melchizedek blessed Abram…
Then Abram gave him a tenth (tithe) of everything. (Genesis 14:18-20)
Anything above and beyond ten percent is an offering - generosity is a privilege, not a burden
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this?
Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.
(1 Chronicles 29:14)
